Since I started affiliate marketing as part of the service involved with doing search engine optimisation, the work has had a growing impetus. The two actions go together very well and having the fishing tackle site means that there is now a direct commercial arm as well as the services provided to other websites.
The 1st job of affiliate marketing is to locate apposite affiliate programmes, mainly with a good range of advertisers who have lots of quality banners to make available for posting on the pages of the shop. The affiliate programme owners must also of course be dependable and reliable as it takes quite a job of work to discover partners and get the agreement and arrange your partners’ links and banners on your pages. Subsequent to that you are in the control of others as customers using you to click through to your partners might or might not buy, but if they do, you are depending on on the various partners to pay the commission. But, and this is a big but and lots will say foolhardy, my default attitude is to trust the people I’m working with. This leaves me open to abuse I know, but there it is, I shall not be changing it.
The subsequent task of course is the SEO of the pages on the shop site. This is the enjoyable bit because in selecting which niche to get involved with in affiliate marketing, producing articles is made easier by doing it about something you know about. Also, it makes it easier getting the site registered on business directories which is another very vital thing involved in search engine optimisation as well as offering press releases, tweeting about news of the site with links to the relevant pages, producing an RSS feed (copy to the Facebook page naturally) and making sure that all is in place for the search engine robots to stuff themselves on links and relevance to the pages.
The serendipity of search engine optimisation and affiliate marketing is a good one, they suit each other very well, one gives sureness of purpose to the other and if anyone is trying affiliate marketing without very vibrant search engine optimisation, they will not make any money. Naturally the same is to be said of any website that doesn’t have a proper online marketing strategy, because you can be certain some of your rivals have, and it is their websites on which the business is being done, not at yours.
So while enhancing my own affiliate marketing shop and activity, I am also more than happy to perform proper, working search engine optimisation for anyone with their own affiliate marketing site, or any website come to that, on the basis it won’t affect my own, but that is extremely unlikely.
